CALAUAN, LAGUNA— Friendly Care Foundation conducted its first session of the Mindfulness-based Wellness for Stress Reduction (MWSR) Training last March 11. Twenty residents of Southville 7 in Calauan, Laguna attended this three-hour seminar at the Zatti classroom in the Don Bosco TVET Training Center.
The participants consisted of members from ten Southville 7 Homeowners Associations, Office of the Vice Mayor of Calauan, the NHA, and other partner organizations such as AFI, Don Bosco Calauan, and ABS-CBN’s Bayan ni Juan, among others.
Ms. Tess Panganiban, CEO of Friendly Care Foundation, Inc. talks to participants about mindfulness during the first session.
The MWSR Training is a four-part seminar series conducted by Friendly Care Foundation Inc., which will teach participants life skills to aid in dealing with stressors with better self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience. It is the Foundation’s belief that looking out for individuals’ wellness and managing stress have positive effects on productivity and minimizes barriers toward growth. The MSWR is a drug-free, group-based, and hands-on workshop.
Last week’s first session on Understanding Stress was received well by the participants. Dominador de Mesa, President of the UPMC Homeowner’s Association Inc. says, “Mabuti at ako ang umattend sa training na ito. Kailangan ko ‘to.”
The training is offered to the Home Owners Associations of Southville 7 and partner organizations who comprise the stakeholder group of Calauan.
The sessions are held every week, since participants are required to do particular mindfulness practices in between sessions. The next seminars will be on March 18, 25, and April 1, 2017.
